Carina graduated BM BCh from Oxford University in 1989. She subsequently trained in Anatomical Pathology in several London hospitals and gained her PhD in Molecular Oncology at the Institute of Molecular Medicine, (Open University), Oxford in 1998. A post Doctoral period followed in Groote Schuur Hospital ,Cape Town, where her interest in liver pathology began. She gained MRCPath (UK) in 2001. Since taking up her position as Consultant Anatomical and Cytopathologist at Christchurch Hospital, she has developed subspeciality interests in Paediatric Oncology, bone and endocrine pathology and liquid based cytology.
