Esther obtained both her BMLSc and her post graduate DipMLS at Otago University. She worked for Medlab South in the Microbiology Department for 4 years, as a senior scientist, supervising wounds, aspirates, blood culture and respiratory section in the laboratory before taking up the position of Bacteriology Section Head at Canterbury Health Laboratories. Esther has an interest in process review and implementation, and in introducing systems and structures at the work place. Outside work, Esther is involved with the local Chinese church; and enjoys music and floral arrangement.
