Kirsten was appointed to the role of Operations Manager of Canterbury Health Laboratories in March 2005 following a seven year period leading the Virology Section. In addition to her registerable qualifications she has completed her Master of Science in Medical Laboratory Science as well as the CDHB Management Development Programme, and the Leadership and Management Programme (LAMP) offered by DHBNZ. The latter programme, completed in 2009, aims to build long-term leadership and management skills within the New Zealand health and disability sector employing action learning principles.

As Operations Manager, Kirsten is responsible for ensuring efficient and effective daily management of Canterbury Health Laboratories and on-going contribution to the development and implementation of CDHB-wide strategies, policies and practices.
