Comments  As from 14th June 2004, Enteroviral (including enterovirus, coxsackie virus, echovirus and poliovirus group) IgM serology will no longer be available.

If acute enteroviral infection is suspected, please submit a throat swab (see Enterovirus, throat swab) or rectal swab (see Enterovirus, faeces) for culture.

If clinical signs are consistant with meningitis, PCR testing is also available on CSF samples (see Enterovirus RNA (CSF)).
