CDHB Works With Pharmacists To Resolve Pharmacy Charge Issue

Representatives from Canterbury pharmacies, the Pharmacy Guild and the Canterbury District Health Board met on Wednesday to discuss the additional “pharmacy charge” being made by some pharmacies in the Canterbury region.

The talks were positive and as a result it has been agreed a joint working party will be established to work on solutions to issues raised at the meeting. All parties agreed that where patients are to be charged for additional services these charges should be made at the time the services are provided rather than in advance.

The working party is expected to convene as soon as possible in the New Year to work on resolving this long standing issue.  After Wednesday’s  meeting, the Canterbury DHB, pharmacies and the Pharmacy Guild are confident a solution satisfactory to all parties will be able to be implemented in the New Year.
