FREE DENTAL CARE FOR TEENS

Going to the dentist

________________________________________________________________________________________________________

What can I expect?

On arrival:

When you get to the dental centre let the receptionist know, so they know you have arrived for your appointment.

Waiting to see the dentist:

There may be some waiting time if previous appointments have taken longer than planned, but the dentist will get to you as soon as he/she can.

Seeing the dentist:

When the dentist is ready he/she will call you in, and get you to sit in the dental chair.

The dentist will then look in your mouth to see what condition your teeth and gums are in. The dentist will probably also take some x-rays. These x-rays helps the dentist detect any problems that may not be visible just by looking in your mouth.

If the dentist finds any problems, he/she may ask you to come another appointment, so you can get the treatment you need. It is really important that you go back and get this treatment, as the problem may spread and get worse if you don't.

If there are no problems, you don't have to come back until another 12 months, when you will have your next free dental check-up.

Why go to the dentist for a check-up every 12 months?

Although it might not feel like anything is wrong with your teeth, it is important that you visit your dentist every 12 months. The dentist can then see if there are any oral health problems developing, and fix them before they start causing a lot of pain and damage.

More reasons to go for a dental check-up every 12 months:

  1. The dentist can help you maintain attractive teeth for an attractive smile.

  2. The dentist can give you expert advice on how to combat oral health problems like bad breath, tooth decay and gum disease (gingivitis).

  3. If you’re under 18 years - whether at high-school, course, work or couch - a dentist will provide you with 1st class dental care totally FREE of charge!
