Burwood Hospital

Burwood Hospital is situated in pleasant wooded surroundings in the north east of Christchurch, approximately 7-8 kilometres from the city centre It is surrounded by golf courses, close to the beach and Burwood Forest, with access to biking and walking trails. Burwood Hospital is the Canterbury District Health Board's centre of excellence for rehabilitation and elective orthopaedic surgery. The rehabilitation focus centres on brain injuries  in those under  65 years, spinal injuries from across New Zealand and orthopaedic patients.

The surgical service comprises mainly elective orthopaedic surgery, spinal urology and some plastic surgery. Other services on site include Chronic Pain Management, Burwood Outpatient Procedure Unit and a Primary Birthing Unit.. The Orthopaedic patient pathway is primarily nurse led,  with medical support being provided.

Burwood has new state of the art operating theatres and a purpose built clinical environment.

Burwood Hospital has a relaxed community feel.  There is  excellent staff retention which contributes to the high standard of patient care provided by experienced multidisciplinary teams with specialised knowledge and expertise.
